Asia Pacific Intellectual Property Creative Summit 2026 Concludes Successfully, Empowering Hong Kong’s Creative Economy Through IP Innovation
Co-hosted by the Knowledge Transfer Office of Hong Kong Baptist University and the JCI Dragon, the Asia Pacific Intellectual Property Creative Summit 2026 concluded successfully on 15 August 2026. In collaboration with multiple partners, the summit brought together academics, creative-industry experts, entrepreneurs, creators, and investors under the theme “Empowering Hong Kong’s Creative Economy through IP Innovation.” By connecting the entire IP industry value chain ecosystem, the summit focusing on how to translate creativity into scalable and sustainable commercial outcomes and driving the high-quality development of the local creative sectors.
The summit was honored to welcome Mr. Wong Fuk Loi, Director of the Intellectual Property Department of the HKSAR Government, to deliver the opening address, underscoring the central role of intellectual property in Hong Kong’s creative economy. Throughout the day, a series of thematic discussions covered key topics ranging from IP creation, management, and operations to protection mechanisms and commercialisation strategies. Panelists shared valuable insights on building and nurturing market-ready IPs, licensing models, financing and investment pathways, cross-sector collaboration, and market expansion, building a robust platform for industry exchange and partnership.
A concurrent showcase featured a range of original IP cultural and creative products, highlighting the latest achievements and practices of local creators in brand building, content operations, and market applications. The original IP “Doughn't Eat Me!”, created by three students from the Department of Interactive Media of the School of Communication at HKBU, made a compelling appearance. Their work anthropomorphises various types of bread from around the world to tell the story of bread breaking free from the oven and venturing into the world in search of self-identity.
Ms. Zoie So, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Interactive Media of the School of Communication at HKBU, joined a panel discussion to share professional experience in IP brand strategy and operational management, while addressing the synergies between IP pedagogy and industry commercialisation.
