HKBU hosts annual forum to enhance intellectual property awareness by exploring AI and Innovation

The Knowledge Transfer Office of HKBU hosted the HKBU Intellectual Property Forum (IP Forum) 2024 on 29 October. With the theme “Can AI be the Master of Creation?”, the forum brought together esteemed intellectual property experts from both government and private sectors, who illuminated a diverse array of topics related to AI and innovation, as well as their implications for intellectual property rights.

This year’s IP Forum provided valuable insights, from examining the implications of AI on copyright law to dynamic panel discussions, showcasing the challenges and opportunities present in the field of intellectual property in the era of artificial intelligence. The event attracted approximately 150 participants, both online and in person.

The forum commenced with welcome speeches by Ms Sandra HUI, Assistant Director (Copyright) of the Intellectual Property Department of the HKSAR Government; Dr Wingco LO, President of The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong and Prof. Terence LAU, Interim Chief Innovation Officer of HKBU.

Alongside representatives from the Intellectual Property Department of the HKSAR Government and HKBU, we were privileged to host speakers from renowned intellectual property firms including International IP Commercialization Council, Deacons and P C Woo & Co, Solicitors & Notaries.
