Gait Measurement with 3-Axes Accelerometer/Gyro in Mobile Devices and Algorithms for Gait Measurement with 3-Axes Accelerometer/Gyro in Mobile Devices
Licensing negotiation in progress
Published Date: 31 December 2025
Closing Date: 15 January 2026
We are pleased to invite expressions of interest for the commercializing of the Gait Measurement with 3-Axes Accelerometer/Gyro in Mobile Devices and Algorithms for Gait Measurement with 3-Axes Accelerometer/Gyro in Mobile Devices developed by Prof. Tai Kin Jeffrey CHEUNG of Retired Professor of the Department of Physics of HKBU. (KTO ref: A47-CT-Gait)
Description
The inventions disclose methods of using an inertia measurement unit to quantify human walking motion by capturing and processing the 3D acceleration signals from near the body’s center of mass by. The inventions introduce signal processing methods to detect gait events such as heel strike and toe-off; and to enable stride to stride analysis to identify irregularities such as instability and poor balance during walking.
Note
This invitation of expression of interest is made without prejudice. This invitation does not constitute a tender, and HKBU is not bound to accept any offer, regardless of monetary value. The final decision regarding the commercialization of the technology rests with HKBU.
