HKBU achieved excellent results at its first participation in the 7th China (Shanghai) International Invention and Innovation Exhibition. All three participating innovative research projects received awards during the exhibition held from 12 June to 14 June, including one Gold Medal, one Silver Medal and one Bronze Medal.
The award-winning HKBU research teams are:
Gold Medal: Professor ZHU Furong, Associate Dean (Research and Postgraduate Studies) of the Faculty of Science of HKBU
Introduction: Their portable NIR detector can accurately measure the quality such as sweetness of fruit without causing any damage to it, bringing greater convenience to fruit quality management.
Company: Crimson Vision Technology Limited
Silver Medal: Professor ZHANG Hongjie, Associate Dean of the School of Chinese Medicine of HKBU
Introduction: They have developed a series of personal care products made from compounds derived from the Chinese herbal plant - Dendrobium. These products offer a natural and effective way for skin whitening.
Company: Gihon Biotech Limited
Bronze Medal: Professor HAN Quanbin, Professor of Teaching and Research Division from the School of Chinese Medicine of HKBU
Introduction: They provide a variety of precious traditional Chinese medicine authentication services that are more rapid and accurate than traditional methods. This includes Cordyceps, Dendrobium, Edible Bird’s Nest, and Donkey-hide Gelatin, bringing quality assurance to the industry and greater confidence to consumers.
Company: Hong Kong Authentication Centre for Chinese Medicines Limited
This year, the theme emphasises steering invention and innovation, highlighting practical technologies and products with good market prospects from countries involved in the "Belt and Road" initiative, aiming to facilitate the development of technology trade. Over 800 innovations were showcased at the exhibition.
