On 12‐13 September, HKBU participated in ReThink HK, where we had the privilege of welcoming the Secretary for the Environment and Ecology, Mr TSE Chin‐Wan, to our booth. He explored our latest innovative projects, which focus on sustainability and environmental impact, including green hydrogen production technology, thermostable pigment coatings, and eco-friendly bioplastics made from organic waste.
We showcased three pioneering initiatives:
- Dr ZHAO Jun, Associate Professor in the Department of Biology: “Turning Waste into Treasure: Converting Urban Organic Solid Waste into Hydrogen”
- Dr Ken LEUNG, Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry: “Exploring Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Applications of Thermostable Pigment Coatings”
- Dr Nirakar PRADHAN, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology: “Bioplastics from Organic Waste”
In addition to our booth presentations, Dr Zhao and Dr Leung contributed their expertise at two conferences. Dr Zhao shared his research project at the seminar titled "Smart Cities: Enhancing Urban Living Through Technology," while Dr Leung delivered a keynote speech on sustainable innovations during the “Tech Talks: Sustainable Technology” session.
ReThink HK was specifically created for business leaders, sustainability experts, and individuals tasked with researching and implementing net‐zero and ESG strategies. Let’s work together to strive for a sustainable future.
