HKBU TSSSU aims to bring R&D results from campus to real world, by encouraging more entrepreneurial activities at the University and facilitating more commercial development of HKBU’s intellectual property rights (IPR) and technology developed at the University. It is a "company start-up" scheme designed to encourage spin-off companies to commercialise the IPR and technologies developed at HKBU.
The objective of the HKBU TSSSU is to encourage more technology start-ups that will add fresh impetus to the innovation ecosystem. Even though the survival rate of start-up ventures is not high generally, participating staff, students and eligible alumni would be able to benefit from their entrepreneurial experience, while staff can also build up their expertise on advising technology companies on their research direction and technology development.
To cultivate an entrepreneurial environment on campus,
TSSSU+ * – up to HK$1,500,000
is available for application in this round.
*an enhancement measure will be introduced with effect from 2023-24 to provide dollar-to-dollar matching funds to those start-ups which have demonstrated good growth potential through securing investment from private sector
