HKBU TSSSU aims to bring R&D results from campus to real world, by encouraging more entrepreneurial activities at the University and facilitating more commercial development of HKBU’s intellectual property rights (IPR) and technology developed at the University. It is a "company start-up" scheme designed to encourage spin-off companies to commercialise the IPR and technologies developed at HKBU.
The objective of the HKBU TSSSU is to encourage more technology start-ups that will add fresh impetus to the innovation ecosystem. Even though the survival rate of start-up ventures is not high generally, participating staff, students and eligible alumni would be able to benefit from their entrepreneurial experience, while staff can also build up their expertise on advising technology companies on their research direction and technology development.
Application for the HKBU TSSSU must be received from a team (i.e. more than one person) comprising at least one eligible applicant member wherein the eligible applicant member must be a "significant team member".
Track 1 will focus on funding spin-off companies that are commercializing technologies developed as part of the work, research or studies at the University. Special preferences will be given to technologies that are Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) of HKBU. Applications that do not fall into the criteria of Track 1 may consider enrolling in Track 2. Details please refer to Guidelines for HKBU Technology Start-up Support Scheme for Universities.
For eligible applicants who may be interested in licensing HKBU’s IPs, please see the patent database by visiting our website: http://kto.hkbu.edu.hk/eng/patent-record-searchApplicants should read the "Guidelines for HKBU Technology Start-up Support Scheme for Universities" with explanatory notes thoroughly and submit all items as stated in the “HKBU TSSSU Application Checklist” to KTO office (Address: DLB 825, David C.
