Technology Start-up Support Scheme for Universities (TSSSU)
HKBU TSSSU aims to bring R&D results from campus to real world, by encouraging more entrepreneurial activities at the University and facilitating more commercial development of HKBU’s intellectual property rights (IPR) and technology developed at the University. It is a "company start up" scheme designed to encourage spin-off companies to commercialise the IPR and technologies developed at HKBU.
The objective of the HKBU TSSSU is to encourage more technology start-ups that will add fresh impetus to the innovation ecosystem. Even though the survival rate of start-up ventures is not high generally, participating staff, students and eligible alumni would be able to benefit from their entrepreneurial experience, while staff can also build up their expertise on advising technology companies on their research direction and technology development.
Note: The TSSSU scheme is subject to final funding confirmation from Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC)
Application for the HKBU TSSSU must be received from a team (i.e. more than one person) comprising at least one eligible applicant member wherein the eligible applicant member must be a "significant team member".
Applicants should read the "Guidelines for HKBU Technology Start-up Support Scheme for Universities" with explanatory notes and complete a "HKBU TSSSU Application Form" to submit to KTO.
Important Note: The Guidelines are subject to further refinements and are not final, but they do serve as a good reference. Please contact the Knowledge Transfer Office for any updates to the Guidelines prior to submitting your HKBU TSSSU application.
HKBU TSSSU Application Form should be completed and submitted electronically with all the supporting documents to KTO on or before the Close of Application Date. One signed hard copy should also be sent to KTO within 1 calendar week after the Close of Application Date.
