Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) under The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has recently announced that the first round of invitation for applications for Hong Kong Branches of Chinese National Engineering Research Centres (CNERCs) will be launched in March 2014.
CNERCs are under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), which focus on providing engineering research and consultancy support to the industries. HK branches of CNERCs aim at promoting technological advancement of Mainland industries and the upgrading of HK’s industries, and enhancing the capability in engineering and commercialization and the overall competitiveness.
ITC will coordinate the application work, as well as nominate overseas experts and invite local industry representatives to be involved in the proposal assessment. Applicants should submit their applications through their institutes (i.e. HKBU). For more information and schedule of the first round of invitation for applications, please refer to Annex and Appendixes (Note: The applicant(s) should pair up with Mainland CNERCs of relevant research areas by signing cooperation agreements.)
For your advance information, applicants will need to submit application proposals in both Chinese and English when ITC accepts nominations from designated local research institutions in March 2014.
