Every year, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust (Trust) makes funds available to the Chief Executive for allocation to projects of benefit to the community. The Trust is now calling for applications for the Chief Executive’s Community Project List 2017. You may wish to note that the theme for the CE's Community Project List 2017 is "Smart City", with particular focus on "Smart Ageing" and "Assistive Technology for Persons with Disabilities". Priority of funding will be given to community projects that are in line with the theme. That said, applications which fall outside the thematic area may also be considered.
Each application should include the following information –
The general selection criteria for the selection of projects are set out at Annex A, a guidance note on how to complete (Annex C) and the Extract of Memorandum are enclosed for information.
Please note that priority will be given to projects with nil or minimal recurrent implications. In view of the Trust’s preference for supporting more sizable projects, projects costing less than $10 million will normally be accorded a low priority and are therefore unlikely to be selected. In addition, applications which were repeatedly re-submitted in the past few years will stand a low chance of success.
The result of the application, after final endorsement by the Trust, is expected to be available in August 2017. Approved projects should generally commence within six months after acceptance of the Trust’s donation. The approved fund will be disbursed as reimbursement of project expenses rather than as a lump sum grant.
Completed applications should be forwarded to Knowledge Transfer Office for comments by 2 February 2017 (Thursday). The recommended applications will then be submitted to the University Grants Committee for consideration and eventual submission to the Trust for approval.
Note: The community project proposal from our institution, if any, should be education related. And it is required to submit only one application per institution.
