Entrepreneurship-Challenge (E-Challenge)
E-Challenge is a series of business plan competitions from simple to comprehensive ideas of businesses and social enterprises for students at all levels. We also provide different kinds of platforms for students to test their business ideas and products. It encourages students to be keen observers of this society and seize every business opportunity.
BEGINNER
For students who are just starting to become aware of entrepreneurship, they are encouraged to engage in ideation by participating in $500 for 1 Page – Business Idea Competition. This competition will be organised early on in the academic year, and 20 awards will be given to encourage wide participation.
INTERMEDIATE
For those who are starting to understand entrepreneurship, they are encouraged to expand their business ideas into 3-page proposals / executive summaries and participate in $5,000 for 3 Pages – Business Proposal Competition. Eight awards will be given to encourage wide participation.
ADVANCED
As students are mature on their learning path and start to contemplate starting their own business, they are encouraged to take part in an open $300,000 for New Venture – Business Plan Competition, where they will plan their business in great detail. Contestants will submit their business plans in one of the two categories—business venture and social enterprise—and the best business plan in each category will be awarded $300,000 ($50,000 in cash and $250,000 in kind). The award will cover further entrepreneurial trainings, professional business services, as well as one year’s rental and service for Incubation Offices to put their entrepreneurial idea into practice.
It motivates students to present their ideas with multimedia tools and promote them through social media channels to draw support from the public including potential customers and investors. It also provides students a chance to test their ideas in terms of popularity and marketability before launching their crowdfunding campaigns in the future. Students and teams are required to produce a 2-min video to demonstrate their innovative ideas and promote their project. Shortlisted videos will be posted on the HKBU BEST Facebook Page for public voting to compete for cash prize awards.
