Technology Start-up Support Scheme for Universities (TSSSU) is a government-funded “company start-up” scheme, which is supported by Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC). TSSSU awards up to HK$1.5 million funding in 2021-2022 to each successful team, in order to encourage more entrepreneurial activities at the University, and facilitate more commercial development of HKBU’s intellectual property rights (IPR) and technology developed at HKBU.

Participating staff, students and eligible alumni would be able to benefit from their entrepreneurial experience, while staff can also build up their expertise on advising technology companies on their research direction and technology development.

HKBU provides exclusive perks throughout application to post-award stages, including:

  • Startup Clinic for entrepreneurial advice on pitching, storytelling, business model, presentation, marketing, commercialisation and more
  • A series of entrepreneurship training & one-on-one clinic sessions from UC Berkeley and other renowned international & local entrepreneurs and experts
  • Networking opportunities to polish your interpersonal skills & meet potential investors
  • Potential funding opportunities other than Innovation and Technology Commission
